RTO Compliance is everyone's business
ASQA conducted 146 audits in the last financial year, 114 of which were not compliant with the RTO Standards. Only 32.8% of RTOs were able to rectify non-compliances. ASQA took 38 regulatory actions including cancelling 23 registrations.?
The elephant in the room
RTO’s managers and staff don’t have the capabilities, knowledge, and skills to operate under the minimum required standards. There is a lack of relevant compliance training for RTO managers, trainers, and staff.
ASQA is leading the sector towards a culture of self-assurance, a great initiative that aims to enter into a mature stage of RTO governance, but some CEOs and managers are wrongly perceiving this move from the regulator as a “relaxation of compliance”.
Self-assurance requires RTOs to develop capabilities and systems to manage their regulatory compliance. By understanding compliance, and having the tools, commitment, and resources to manage regulatory requirements, RTOs are more accountable for their own governance and compliance behaviour.

1 年So that’s 78% of the RTO’s deemed non compliant. How does that compare to Uni’s being deemed non-compliant in the same period against TEQSA? 78%?

1 年Incredible how low the audit numbers are - particularly given how bad the results. On a risk-basis, we need a new regulator.
