RTLS in Healthcare, NLP + AI=Faster results, lower costs
By Raphael Feldman, CEO SysGen
I've spent most of my career working with technology deployments in healthcare.
SysGen has been an end-to-end solution provider to Hospital Systems, Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Centers and other caregivers in Alzheimer's and Autism communities since 2004.
Today's RTLS solutions use visualization tools (floor plans, database queries, etc.) to locate assets, whether these assets are medical equipment devices needed for patient care or locating people (i.e. nurses, patients, doctors, transporters, etc.).
There is a new, disruptive technology available to the healthcare venues and the vendors providing RTLS solution. It's called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), or Natural Language Processing.
Think Alexa, Google Assistant, Microsoft Cortana, or even Siri. Imagine using your voice to bring up floor plans on a screen, or query a database to find a specific asset. Just ask the device, "where is the closest available infusion pump?" The device knows its location, and it will speak the answer to you. The software is designed to find the exact X, Y, Z coordinate of what you're searching for, and it can even tell the user if the asset is in motion. No more clicking a mouse 5 to 10 times to get the information you need.
This new method of communication has already been tested with a number of existing solutions, and the results have been accurate and fantastic. The time efficiency alone has saved hospitals hours in labor costs.
If your hospital system has already invested heavily in RTLS asset tracking, this new NLP platform is worth the time to investigate. Now that we've fused several AI engines together with NLP, your RTLS system can become smarter and store/recall the patterns your users deploy when searching for an asset.
