RTL Navigation & Other Goodies - in5 v3.6.1
Right-to-left navigational support is now built into the Page Flip, Slider, & Continuous Scroll Horizontal formats.

RTL Navigation & Other Goodies - in5 v3.6.1

Yeah, yeah. I know I just released v3.6.0...but there were some other cool updates that we just finished and I didn't want you to have to wait to use them.

Right-to-Left Navigation

in5 has long supported RTL text, but the navigational elements were more complex. I'm very pleased to announce that in5 now supports RTL navigation as well (reversed page order, navigational buttons, and even page peels in the PageFlip format).

The binding is set up in InDesign and automatically exported.

Ability to test Responsive Layouts without a Gold plan

The previous release added the Responsive Layouts feature, but the option didn't even appear unless you had a Gold license.

v3.6.1 lets you test Responsive Layouts with any license level, including the free demo, but it will limit the number of pages in the output and add watermarks to the images. This way you can try before upgrading.

Important animation change

The visibility of an entire animation sequence now gets reset when the sequence is restarted. For example, if an animation sequence is completely hidden and an On Page Load event starts the sequence, the sequence completes (now fully visible), then a button event re-triggers the sequence, the entire sequence will be re-hidden before starting.

Previously, the animation item were hidden just before each one played (not the entire sequence). This look like a quick flash as the item instantly re-appeared (and the subsequent items in the sequence were completely visible).

In most cases, this will just be an invisible improvement that helps your documents.

This will be especially helpful when using the in5 Animated GIF Maker, which replays the animation for recording.

Important Object States change

Multi-State Objects will now automatically reset to the first state on page changes. This will have a big effect, but in most cases, it will be a desirable effect. It can be removed with a small customization.

Better Google Analytics tracking

Google Analytics page tracking will now show the entire path to the document.

Previously, if you had a document at https://example.com/site/docs/one/index.html, you'd see page events appear in your Google Analytics like so:

index.html?&page=1

index.html?&page=2

Now it will appear:

/site/docs/one/index.html?&page=1

/site/docs/one/ndex.html?&page=2

This should prove to be a lot more useful if you have several in5 documents on your site.

Other fixes

  • Added support for inline images within the Mobile Article Explorer when the article is stored externally.
  • Updated processing so that page thumbnails show the first state of any MSO.
  • Improved swipe cancellation on scaled layouts.
  • Fixed auto play of video inside MSO state.
  • Fixed issue with Go To URL combined with show and hide actions.
  • Fixed synchronous playing of a linked animation with a delay.
  • Fixed page turn distance in single page mode.
  • Fixed image sequence swipe gestures for responsive layouts with image sequences on multiple layouts.
  • Fixed issue with InDesign not seeing responsive layouts as orientation changes, even though the values indicate that they should be thus.

You can get the latest version of in5 here.
