Netlfix only streaming body to leave Oscars with award

It was an underwhelming evening for streaming at the Oscars with Netflix the only platform to come away with an award. Its short film, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar won best live action short.

The best picture award still eludes the studio after Maestro missed out to big winner of the night Oppenheimer.

With Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb epic scooping 7 awards, and its cinematic companion from last summer Barbie winning best original song, the enduring ken-ergy of Barbenheimer still lives on and has undoubtedly cemented live cinema’s importance in the entertainment experience.

But with several of the nominated pictures now available on demand, expect a flurry of streaming activity from audiences off the back of the awards, further confirming how cinema and streaming can co-exist harmoniously!
