RTé backing junior entrepreneurs ...
More than 3,500 entrepreneurs aged between 10 and 12 years old showcased their products and businesses at Ireland’s first Junior Enterpreneur Programme (JEP) Showcase yesterday at the RDS Dublin. Having turned over €220,000 collectively, these successful 5th and 6th class entrepreneurs generated over €140,000 in less than a year!
And RTé was at the heart of the campaign and the event itself.
The showcase event followed a major two-month support campaign from RTé, which culminated in an innovative activation at the RDS, where kids could jump into the newscaster seat for a few moments and try their hand at studio presenting.
The central events and marketing team re-created the RTé News2Day set, with lighting, camera, autocue and sound, to mimic a real studio environment. RTé presenters Keelin Shanley, Zainab Bolande, Ciara King, Chris Greene and Nuala Carey presented the awards to the young and very enterprising winners. RTé DG Dee Forbes took a tour of the event and proved she could spot a winner!
Every county in Ireland and Northern Ireland was represented at the JEP Showcase, where primary school children demonstrate their creativity, innovation and business acumen giving celebrity judges and some of Ireland’s leading business people a hard time in selecting the best products, teams and business strategies.
The Junior Entrepreneur Programme is enrolling now for the new school year starting in September 2018. See www.juniorentrepreneur.ie
