#RSASouthampton February 2025 Update
Welcome!
During 2024 we ran nine events that were visited by more than 350 individual Fellows and Friends. During 2025 we would like to run a second, successful events programme as well as finding ways to move from conversations to action.
There are three ways you can contribute to our plans for 2025 - By attending our 2025 Planning Event on February 25th, by filling in our survey, or simply by messaging me with any thoughts you may have. All details are below.

TOPIC & FELLOW UPDATES
1. Devolution: Have Your Say
In May last we held a well attended event considering local democracy and the opportunity provided by devolution. The Government has subsequently launched its white paper in December and it's implications for Southampton are outlined by Southampton City Council on their website. We are planning a follow-up event now more of the details for Southampton are understood, and are hoping this will take place before the public consultation closes on 13th April 2025.
2. The Southampton Narrative: Vote For Our Port Ambassadors
Our July event featured Yana Shkruropat, one of our Port Welcome Ambassadors. We'll all remember her passion for our City and dedication to welcoming thousands of visitors. Well, Yana and the team have been nominated for the Visit England Tourism Superstar Awards. Please take a moment to vote for the Southampton Saints (team in red, above!).
3. Supporting Our Creative Businesses: Networking Update
Our November event took it's cue from the RSA Creative Corridors report and addressed the economic benefits of taking a more regional view of the creative industries. A group of RSA Fellows are currently planning a series of networking events focussed on supporting commercial creative businesses such as agencies and design businesses. If you are interested in attending these events or getting involved please DM Fred on LinkedIn and we'll add you to the list.
4. PARALLEL MUSIC CONFERENCE - 6th & 7th MARCH
If you - or someone you know - is interested in becoming a part of the music industry as an artist, creative or manager then this is a must.
Aimed at passing on knowledge to and connecting the next generation of music industry and artists, Parallel Music Conference is focused on breaking down barriers to music education and industry insights for individuals of all backgrounds. The event is the first of its kind in Southampton, bringing current music industry professionals from across the UK to the city to connect with local artists and aspiring music industry individuals.?
