RRCU Host First Ever Juneteenth Spirit Week

In 2022 our RRUB (Red River Unapologetically Black) employee resource group decided they wanted to host the first ever RRCU Juneteenth Spirit Week. Our employees were able to participate in 5 days of education, celebration and food!
Our ERGs shared the history of why Juneteenth is such an important historical day. They hosted Juneteenth Trivia to make learning fun!
On Wednesday our ERG recognized local community leaders such as, Willie James Singleton. Mr. Singleton went from picking cotton to tackling some of the nation's toughest class action suits. He is the owner and managing attorney for the Singleton Law Firm. Others recognized were Pastor James Green, and Judge Ree J Casey-Jones.
Our ERG also highlighted HBCU's such as, Southern University, originally founded in New Orleans and Dillard University, founded in 1930.

Thankful Thursday was all about celebrating local Black-owned business owners. We had branches that picked up donuts, bought lunch and spotlighted Black-owned businesses in our communities.
Charkeitha Washington is Texarkana's very own "Cookie Lady". She currently has over 200 cookie flavors and each day sells out of everything she baked! Other owners recognized, Mrs. Pamela Phillips-Charles, MBA. Her vision is to continue to expand the services of behavior health within the community through new ideas, new concepts and adapt new policies and procedures to better meet the needs of individual, families as well as our workforce.?
Friday was "Food truck Friday" and it did not disappoint. Several of our branches hosted Black-owned food trucks and vendors in branch parking lots! We had a huge turnout and most of our trucks/vendors sold out. Not to mention the employees loved being able to support the cause and have food close by.
We want to give a huge shoutout to our RRUB Employee Resource Group. They did an outstanding job coordinating, connecting and running everything last week. Creating a diverse and inclusive organization is absolutely a journey and we are so thankful to be on this journey together with our employees, our members and our communities.
