We launched the rqmicro Cloud Solution, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering at the beginning of the year. The browser-based application and the rqmicro.COUNT instrument together present a comprehensive platform for microbial monitoring at any company, and they are already in use in a wide variety of applications and industries. First Customer Case Story From Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS)

In Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), maintaining an equilibrium between fish welfare, operating costs, and water quality can be challenging. That is where rqmicro.COUNT comes in for companies such as Percitech and its parent, Valperca SA, the largest aquaculture company in Switzerland. Our monitoring solution helps to provide accurate and rapid detection of bacteria in their water circuits, allowing the company to take immediate measures to monitor process quality and safeguard fish health. The German Association of Engineers (VDI) Officially Adopted the rqmicro Method for Legionella Quantification in Recirculating Cooling Systems

Cooling tower operators and laboratories in Germany are now able to use rqmicro.COUNT to detect Legionella contamination in the event of an outbreak or as part of the VDI guideline 4250-2. This approval is the result of the successful independent validation performed over the course of the last 2 years. For the scientific validation, we worked with Philipp Streich M. Sc, member of the group Bioanalytics and Microanalytical Systems at the Institute of Water Chemistry at Technical University of Munich and other project partners on the WIPANO – LegioRapid – project. We increased our activities beyond Legionella monitoring and entered into clean water applications in the Food & Beverage (F&B) and Pharma. The rqmicro.COUNT solution provides unprecedented precision for the quantification of total viable bacteria in purified water. Continuing the progress in F&B, we released the rqmicro E. coli test. Based on unique binders, we now provide the world’s first and fastest test for viable E. coli bacteria. At the market launch in the USA at Weftec and Watervent, we spoke to leading companies in the industry, presented innovations and collaborations. Project With KWR: Reliable Detection and Control of Legionella pneumophila in Wastewater

This project aims to improve detection methods for Legionella in wastewater and overcome the current limitations of cultivation techniques. It focuses on Legionella pneumophila in wastewater treatment plants, where the risk of contamination has increased. The existing ISO 11731 method faces substantial limitations, so a more reliable alternative needs to be found. The project will also investigate measures for Legionella management in wastewater treatment, filling a current knowledge gap. The results will be published on an online platform for the benefit of technology providers, water managers and consultancies involved in Legionella risk management. Read more about the project.

The Conclusion

The rqmicro.COUNT instrument provides by far the most convenient and cost-effective flow cytometry solution on the market. Current investors provided additional capital which will add to the financing round at the start of 2024.

We ended the year with a good sales pipeline and potential commercial partners on board. rqmicro customers experience that the rapid tests offer a new opportunity to reduce throughput times and costs as well as significantly increase process quality and product safety!

With a really successful year behind us, we are looking forward to everything that awaits us in 2024. We are proud to announce that by the end of the year we will be launching new products, participating in many projects and trade shows (Analytica Munich in Germany, ACHEMA in Germany, IFT First Innovation Lab in the USA and many others), as well as hosting webinars with many great speakers from the industry who will share their experiences with our audience.
