The Royal Society of Chemistry has announced an innovative new agreement with the University of Cyprus, marking the first Open Access deal in the country.
The RSC Platinum deal will cover an initial one-year period and expand Open Access provision for authors affiliated with the university.
RSC Platinum means full reading access and ensures no author affiliated with the University of Cyprus will face publishing charges in any of RSC’s journals, including Gold OA. This deal means the university is one the first institutions to sign up for RSC Platinum, following Germany's TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and University Library, earlier this year.
The University of Cyprus's chemistry department’s intensive research activities are aimed at applications in important fields such as health, energy, and the environment. They have also led to a significant production of research publications and successes in national and international research programs.
The Department of Chemistry of the University of Cyprus (UCY) team explain that it is the only chemistry department in Cyprus and has created modern undergraduate and postgraduate programs compatible with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
