Royal Huisman 81m Sea Eagle II Soars Into Service
The world’s largest aluminum sailing yacht, SEA EAGLE II, proved worthy of her name as she recently completed sail trials. Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark Whiteley, the 81m/266ft SEA EAGLE schooner is fitted with three carbon Rondal Panamax masts and carbon booms. The system sends her 3500 square meters of Doyle Sails into flight, delivering thrilling speed clocked at 21+ knots.
Under the control of 34 Rondal winches; the yankee, the staysail sheets, and the mizzen sheet runners; the system effortlessly takes on a remarkable pulling load of 18 tons. Designed for precise communication between the forces of strength, stiffness, and weight, the Rondal mast is built in a single piece over 80% of its length, ensuring a flawless arc under sail.
Dovetailing expertise from previous builds embracing composite technology with important partnerships, SEA EAGLE II has emerged as a yacht that performs beautifully, is easy to sail, and is of unquestionable quality. The plumb bow design and sleek profile embrace beautiful interiors with accommodations for 11 guests served by 14 crew.
Commissioned by the owner of the 43m/142ft Royal Huisman SEA EAGLE sloop launched in 2015, confidence in the shipyard’s capabilities proved again that dreams are the stuff Royal Huisman yachts are made of: “If you can dream it, we can build it.”
