Royal Ascot - What You Missed

Hello darling, the Royal Ascot just finished on Saturday. This prestigious horse-racing festival which started in 1768 in southern England, is the ultimate event where festival-goers can spot both royalty and celebrities in one place. About 300,000 posh visitors attend with focus on spectacular hats and bright colored dresses. From the beginning of time, every British monarch has attended. On a daily basis, Queen Elizabeth II and her family and guests arrive at 2pm and during this royal procession, are driven in horse-drawn carriages down the race track and into the parade ring. The world’s best horses come from countries far away such as the US and Australia.

Now back to the people-watching. It is estimated that 400 helicopters and a thousand limousines transport guests to Ascot. For this five-day event, organizers ordered 11,000 pounds of salmon, 5,000 Angus steaks and 5,300 pounds of beef sirloin, 7,000 rumps of English lamb, 3,500 fresh lobsters and 8,000 Cornish crabs. The royal meeting will serve 240,000 hand-crafted cakes, 120,000 buttermilk scones, 80,000 cups of tea, 60,000 finger sandwiches, 7,000 punnets of mixed berries and 2,650 pounds of Cornish clotted cream.

Ah! The dress code…..ladies must wear dresses and skirts to the knees and no bare shoulders. Men must wear socks and suits must match – no color. For your do’s and don’ts contact us for next year’s VIP experience at Royal Ascot.
