Since the technology to purchase goods over the internet was first introduced, there has been a divide between the real world and the digital world. What is already clear is that these two worlds will converge to create an experience that will redefine e-commerce forever.

The first e-commerce efforts in the metaverse are already in their early phases. The metaverse companies, which are specifically dedicated to building and designing the metaverse, are currently among the most innovative companies as they strive to bring something unique to the metaverse. By that, we mean virtual worlds are being created, or digital architecture, or digital events.

This does not mean that only certain companies can participate in the metaverse, anyone can participate, including you and your business. But the more experience you gain with, for example, virtual reality and artificial reality, the easier it will be for you to get started with the metaverse. Start slowly, for example, by getting support from #vrprofessionals or identifying areas of application for #VR or #AR in the company first.

Which companies are already working on the metaverse? As the metaverse creates new forms of e-commerce, some companies are already participating in this development. Brands such as Nike or Ralph Lauren are already selling their clothes to avatars; McDonald's wants to start a virtual restaurant; and Adidas has acquired virtual properties to create an avatar on them. The best-known metaverse company is Facebook, which was recently renamed Meta.

The virtual world also needs virtual money or virtual goods, and that is why the #cryptocurrencies are used for this. These are coins such as #Bitcoin (BTC), #Ethereum (ETH), or #Tether. With them, you can buy and sell goods and things, but they can also serve as payment for those who work in the metaverse.

#NFT also belongs to the metaverse. An NFT, a non-fungible token, is a digital or virtual good. Its non-exchangeable token is the digital form of an asset that cannot be exchanged one-for-one for another. NFTs are mostly digital art, i.e., images or clips in different variations, and also luxury goods, status symbols, or relics collected by people.

As an online retailer, you can also create your own NFT. It can be a pure art object that your customers in the metaverse simply want to own. Or it can also secure certain benefits for the owners of your NFT, such as specific discounts, early bird access, limited products, or other special features. Be aware of good marketing strategies and build a community that is interested in being part of your metaverse world.?
