Rotterdam Expat Centre launches new website!

On Tuesday 24 January 2017, Rotterdam Partners launched the new website of the Rotterdam Expat Centre. Expats, international companies and other interested visitors can consult www.rotterdamexpatcentre.nl for up-to-date information and services related to working and living in the greater Rotterdam area.

Rotterdam Expat Centre (previously known as the ExpatDesk) is the one-stop shop for expat employees and international businesses moving into Rotterdam, answering their questions about laws and regulations, housing and business accommodations, schools and universities, healthcare, municipal and national taxes, and social services. Rotterdam Expat Centre provides information and expert services free of charge, supporting businesses, expats, knowledge migrants and international students. Expats and knowledge migrants can also contact Rotterdam Expat Centre to arrange appointments with the Municipality of Rotterdam and the IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service) for specific procedures related to the municipal registry of persons, immigration, or visa applications.

For international companies, Rotterdam Expat Centre offers information about finding and hiring international employees from across the European Union and beyond. Rotterdam Expat Centre can also provide information about the 30% tax rule for international employees coming into the Netherlands.

All the relevant information on a single site

The new website combines all the latest relevant information for businesses, expats and knowledge migrants in a clearly structured website, making it easier and faster for everyone to find the right information and contact the right authorities. A FAQ page provides a list of all the most frequently asked questions for website visitors. The website also includes options to make appointments with Rotterdam Expat Centre and with the municipal authorities, and to ask specific questions about topics relevant to expats and international businesses.

Warm welcome

The new Rotterdam Expat Centre website is in line with the clear intention of the city of Rotterdam to extend a warm welcome to businesses and expats from all over the world. Rotterdam is currently home to nearly 37,000 expats, many from such countries as China, Italy, India and Brazil. They work and study at international companies and major multinationals, as well as the knowledge institutes throughout the city. The annual Red Carpet Event welcomes international businesses, while the new International Welcome Event held every six months is designed for expats; both events are organised by Rotterdam Partners.

Ron Voskuilen, managing director at Rotterdam Partners: ”Rotterdam Partners works constantly in close collaboration with the municipal authorities and other parties in the city to strengthen the Rotterdam economy. International businesses and expats that are considering relocating to Rotterdam are key players in this context. It is essential to provide them optimal information about all the opportunities our city offers, inspire them to opt for Rotterdam, welcome them once they arrive, and continue supporting them throughout their stay. The new website for the Rotterdam Expat Centre will definitely play a significant role in this process.”

Based in the Schielandshuis

Since early 2017, Rotterdam Expat Centre has joined Rotterdam Partners and Rotterdam Tourist Information in the Schielandshuis, a unique historic building dating back to c. 1665, situated in the heart of the city.
