For more than 37 years, the Rotary Club of Dunwoody has embraced its mission?to?have fun and work hard to make a difference in the world and in our community. Their mission has been accomplished once again. Through new fundraising efforts, the club was able to make a bigger difference in the last year than perhaps ever before, and plenty of fun was had along the way!?

The Rotary Club of Dunwoody had an outstanding year both in service projects and raising funds for worthy causes. The club held its first Whiskey & Cigar Raffles in October, November, and December of last year and raised more than $6,500 for its general fund, which supports causes such as United Service Organizations (USO), the Dresden Book Drive, the Community Assistance Center (CAC), the Kingsley Thanksgiving Food Box, and others. All three raffle drawings were held locally at Porter Brew & Que with excellent membership and community participation.

A charity golf tournament, another first for the Rotary Club this year, proved to be a wildly successful event. Cleverly named FORE! THE MEMORIES, the Rotary’s inaugural golf tournament, raised money for the Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia and took place at St. Marlo Country Club on May 16, 2022.?

“We had great participation from our membership and friends of Rotary with more than 35 sponsors and 104 golfers taking part,” said Bob O’Brien, Rotary Club of Dunwoody Fundraising Chair, 2021-23. “The tournament raised $20,000 for Alzheimer’s of Georgia -The Longest Day Program, which was presented to them at our annual year-end celebration held at Dunwoody Country Club on June 15, 2022. The tournament also contributed $13,000 to our general fund to help continue our support of community projects this upcoming year,” O’Brien reported.
