Rossano Paul Stewart
Hello, I have been a published photojournalist in the city of Pittsburgh, for many years. I have had this distinguished privilege with The New Pittsburgh Courier for ten years, 2006-2016. Many of my articles on the communities and interests of the citizens of the greater Pittsburgh area have been published by various publications. My body of work can be noted by the: Pittsburgh Steelers, The Bus Stops Here Foundation, The Best of The Batch Foundation, Community Empowerment Associations, Womens Rights Movement, B-PEP, NAACP OF PITTSBURGH, August Wilson African American Cultural Center, August Wilson House, Duquesne City, along with the many events that give this city such beautiful charisma. During my tenure with the New Pittsburgh Courier, I had the honor of celebrating with my lifelong colleagues several national awards for excellence in journalism. I have traveled through many counties of Pittsburgh in the years. Each having its own unique character that I always made a point to feature in my stories. Born in the small town of Duquesne, Pa. amongst the background of the Steel Mills of Homestead and Braddock, of which many of my elders worked and raised their families. Reared by a single mother, with siblings, we soon moved north to New York City. There I was fortunate to witness, as a youth, The Harlem Renaissance in its splendor. The fashions, the cars, the architecture, times square, the village, the civil rights movement, Malcolm X, the start of gay rights movement, the Polo Grounds Stadium, Willie Mays, Roy Campanella, Strivers Row, some of the greatest basketball athletes in history, competing at the legendary, Rucker Park at 155th St. in Harlem. As a youngster listened to the sermons of Pastor Adam Clayton Powell Jr. at Abyssinian Baptist Church, of where I was baptized. After Highschool I enlisted in the Army, there I attended and graduated from The U.S. Army College of Communications in Savanna Ga. and served as a Communcations specialist in West Germany during the cold war in the late seventies and eighties. While serving in the Army, I've written articles on troop activities and various celebrations of enlisted soldiers for Armed Forces Magazine. After my military retirement and return to New York, I worked for Doubleday Books as a Serial Rights correspondent. Then married and co-raised three daughters. After the three of them completed college, I attended the New York Institute of Photography and returned back to home to Pittsburgh and began a career with the New Pittsburgh Courier. Currently I have written my first fiction novel published by Amazon books Publishing. I hope this will be well received by everyone.
