Roseman Labs completes Intel Ignite Europe deep tech accelerator program

Roseman Labs recently wrapped up Intel’s accelerator program for early-stage deep tech startups, Intel Ignite. ?For twelve weeks, the team worked hand in hand with Intel mentors, industry leaders and external advisors, driven by the Intel Ignite Europe team. Looking back on an inspiring ride, Roseman Labs’ co-founder Toon Segers chatted with Intel Ignite’s Martha Ivanovas and Markus Bohl about how the founders’ team experienced the program and what comes next.

Awesome guide

Markus Bohl, Intel Ignite Europe’s Managing Director: this program is designed around highly-experienced mentors who have built companies and bring deep expertise on building technology and bring it to market. So Toon, how was this experience for you ?

?Toon: This really has been a tremendous learning experience. It actually is a real expertise to build a startup and if you surround yourself with people who have done this tens or hundreds of times, things simply go much faster. We all tend to go in na?ve and start building a company, but if you’re talking to a person who - for instance - has actually built a sales machine countless times, there’s no debate on how to do so. It’s extremely effective. We had over 20 experts working with us, many of whom devoted a significant portion of their time to help us forward. That was a big advantage.

Markus The program is designed to drive startup success– how was this for you?

Toon Our objective is to build a global company. In order to scale beyond our local ecosystem and tap into the global tech ecosystem, you really need a guide. For us, Intel Ignite has been an awesome one.

Markus Martha, you oversee deal sourcing for Intel Ignite Europe and manage over 500 deals annually. What would you say distinguishes Roseman Labs?

?Martha Ivanovas, Intel Ignite Europe’s deal flow manager it was the only security company that made it into the cohort and also the only Dutch company, so great to have this diversity, which we love to see. A very experienced team with a super steep learning curve also, and always open to feedback.

Natural fit

Martha Markus, could you talk a bit about the program and how Roseman Labs fits there.

?Markus Intel Ignite is a tailored, high touch program for early-stage, deep tech startups, customized to drive each startup’s KPIs. What we’re really looking for is breakthrough innovation: stuff that has not been invented before and not just a mere application of something that was already there. The topics Roseman Labs is focusing on, such as open source, confidential computing, security and privacy, are all areas that Intel is active in and when discussing with Roseman Labs looked like we could create value for them. The team also came with a vision and set of objectives that allowed us to work together on executing them.

Life long relationship

Martha: Markus, we run this program twice a year and you always say it is the end of the beginning. Why is that?

Markus: The collaboration continues after the program as some of the execution is set to take more time and new opportunities emerge, from joint go to market activities to promoting Intel Ignite alums at global trade shows - it is a lifelong relationship. Actually, Roseman Labs will also join us at Intel’s annual Innovation conference in San Jose, where a number of Intel Ignite portfolio startups get the opportunity to showcase their proposition to large Intel clients and development partners.

Martha: Toon, what would you say to other founders on why they should join the program?

Toon: Considering the huge commitment that comes with it, my answer is threefold. First of all it is really unique to have your proposition critically reviewed by so many hyper-experts, making it sharper and sharper. Secondly, participating gives you such an incredible network of experts in sales, in proposition development, in next-gen hardware, in open source and so on, it’s impossible to get that anywhere else. It also expands your VC network on a European level. There’s only a handful of deep tech VC’s in our country, so this network really is crucial. And last but not least, the opportunity to access and experiment with Intel’s next generation technology. ?I would recommend any early-stage deep tech founder to instantly apply.
