Rooting out diabetes as opposed to managing its symptoms - Focus on underlying disorders instead of merely monitoring blood sugar, a symptom

#diabetes #bloodsugar #insulin #insulinresistance #guthealth #inflammation #diabetesmanagement #diabetesawareness #diabetestype2

I want to repeatedly emphasize that a sound diabetes-fighting strategy focuses on tackling the root causes of the disease rather than simply treating the symptom.?Poor gut health, chronic systemic inflammation, and insulin resistance together form the underlying sickness that leads to diabetes whereas high blood sugar is simply a symptom.?Merely controlling blood sugar without addressing this behind-the-scenes sickness may only worsen diabetes over time because this approach simply masks the actual sickness, allowing it to fester with time.?

Root causes of diabetes are also pathways for other diseases

One thing we need to be aware of is that the same unhealthy habits that lead to diabetes also increase the risk for other chronic conditions because all chronic conditions develop and progress through the same pathways – poor gut health, chronic systemic inflammation, and insulin resistance – brought about by unhealthy habits.??

As such, tackling diabetes by addressing the root causes also counters other conditions such as cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, and arthritis.?Similarly, ignoring the root causes significantly increases the risk for those same health problems.???

Lifestyle is powerful

Lifestyle has a profoundly powerful influence on gut health, inflammation, and insulin function – the underlying factors.?Diabetes itself is a serious symptom of a poor lifestyle and a key indicator that the body as a whole is highly dysfunctional.

Here is what you can do to improve gut health, control inflammation, and improve insulin function.?By following these tips consistently, you can easily control blood sugar in a way that promotes good health because you are tackling the underlying sickness as opposed to simply managing its symptom.??

Eat different fermented foods to obtain probiotics, friendly bacteria needed for healthy gut function.?Generally speaking, each location has locally available fermented foods that are usually affordable and it’s wise to opt for such foods in order to make them a consistent part of your diet.??Common examples of fermented foods and drinks include kombucha tea, Kimchi (a type of fermented cabbage), sauerkraut (also fermented cabbage), apple cider vinegar, and tempeh (a form of fermented soybeans)

Fill your diet with a wide range of unprocessed plant foods, they are rich in fiber as well as antioxidants.?Unprocessed plant foods are plant foods that are in their most original state because they haven’t undergone any form of processing.?Such foods include whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.

Equally important is to limit highly processed plant foods such as white flour products (they include cakes, biscuits, white bread, and white pasta), added sugar, sugary drinks, juices (even pure juices are processed; instead of drinking the juice, eat the fruit), and processed breakfast cereals.

Cut back on meat, especially processed meats such as bacon, ham, and salami.?In place of meat, steadily increase your intake of legumes – a food class that includes beans, peas, lentils, and peanuts.

Exercise on a regular basis as best as you possibly can.

Recap

Addressing the root causes of diabetes greatly increases the chances of restoring good health because this approach addresses the underlying sickness that leads to diabetes.?Additionally, you also get to offset other diseases because chronic conditions tend to develop and progress through the same pathways.?

?What’s in the next issue?
