ROOTING ON OUR SENSE OF DIRECTION

The world we live in today demands that companies have clarity in?business direction and value proposition.?With increasingly new and complex expectations from wide ranging stakeholders, the ability for companies to deliver sustainable long term value will determine its attractiveness and competitiveness for investors and stakeholders.

When Top Glove was set up three decades ago (30 years), we knew that with time there will be rising competition. Healthy competition is good for markets and countries. It drives players to become stronger and industries to become competitive. Therein lies the challenge for businesses to remain relevant to their customers and consumers. Our brand can only remain relevant when we deliver on our promises, and when we help our customers meet their goals and needs through our services and products.

Therefore, we need to constantly ask ourselves: are we adhering to our business direction, what exactly are we selling and have we upheld our brand promise in doing so?

Firstly, what does Top Glove sell???Just gloves and masks or something more???Top Glove sells healthcare and prevention of bad health.?This defines our brand. Any Top Glove service and product must first and foremost exude elements of?healthcare and prevention of bad health.?Core to achieving this purpose is constant reinvention of our business and products through innovation, research and development.

Secondly, as leaders and managers we must continually evolve individually and collectively, or we risk being replaced by our competitors.?The world around us is not only changing at a rapid pace but it is also polarised. This polarisation presents new risks and challenges. Being alert?(sengmok in Cantonese)?cannot be over emphasised for these times. We have a host of new stakeholders ranging from activism as well as from technology users and abusers who may at times misrepresent facts and/or disseminate incorrect information about us and what we do.?If we are not ahead of events, our brand may be misrepresented.

Finally, we need to understand the repercussions of our every action on our brand and the communities we serve in. It has never been more urgent for leaders everywhere to have coherent voice and strategy that aligns not only to local expectations but also to global standards. We need to be able to connect the dots and know how each event affect us in the short, medium and long term. What we do in one place may have a domino effect somewhere else.

Today, customers do not just look at services and products anymore. They look at our sense of purpose and business direction. Our shareholders need to know they are investing in a company that has long term view and goals which it will achieve. When we meet the needs of our stakeholders’, we will garner the support we require from all parties.

As we usher in the Lunar Year of Tiger, our aspirations and objectives at Top Glove is to stay focused on the key disruptors of businesses and how we respond to them. As stewards of our stakeholders, we must continue to demonstrate that we will deliver our responsibilities with the highest of standards fulfilling our obligations in the environmental, social, and governance policies and expectations.???May this new year bring immense joy and success into all our lives. The journey is long, and we must go ahead with optimism and a positive mindset.?May the joy and spirit of this new year stay in your hearts and lives.
