The Root of the Problem? Evil.
Franklin Graham says there’s one thing that is the root of all of America’s problems
Many Americans are in a constant state of bewilderment, we do not recognize the country we knew even 10 years ago.
There is an invasion of illegal aliens, drug addicts, and homeless in America’s cities while perversion is celebrated in culture and the classroom.
And Franklin Graham nailed it when he says there’s only one reason at the heart of America’s problems.
Franklin Graham discusses cultural decay and it’s “fundamental, root cause”
World-renowned evangelist Franklin Graham has a deeper perspective than most Americans living today.
While many of us see our nation is in trouble with staggering debts, a degraded societal structure, confusion about the simplest things—Graham only sees the root problem.
“Every day, we hear reports of growing crime, lawlessness and violence, and especially bullying from those on the progressive Left against those who stand publicly for God’s truth,” he wrote recently in Decision Magazine.
Graham sees the confusion as something that is frankly inescapable.
It is understandable to see the world as “ominous, chaotic, and unsettling” but Americans must see that there is a way to break through all of this madness.
The first step is to recognize that “the Bible points to the fundamental, root cause of the turmoil that grips our world” Graham continued.
The “root cause” is as old as Adam himself—it is sin.
“Sin brought death, both physical and spiritual, to the entire human race,” Graham explains.
Graham took the task of explaining this not to strike readers with an unrelenting victimhood but to make us realize that there is only one way beyond this spiritual pain.
“From the fall in the Garden with Adam and Eve, until now, and until the Lord Jesus Christ returns to establish His Kingdom on Earth, sin has and will continue to infect and stain our planet,” Graham explained.
Quoting Romans 5:12, he wrote, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread through all men, because all sinned.”
Graham says, “Sin brought death, both physical and spiritual, to the entire human race.”
That original sin has brought us to where we are today.
Living in a world where “greed, violence, pride, wickedness and evil” are a feature of every institution and for most everyday life.
People must not let deception rule over our hearts but instead look to God’s word.
People in the world have forgotten what makes a man and a woman distinct — and what purpose the biological differences serve.
But if we hold fast to God’s word then we will understand that it’s not for us to redefine.
“So, God created man in His own image; in the image of God; He created him; male and female He created them,” Graham wrote from Genesis 1:27.
More consequentially, we’ve forgotten when the precious nature of life begins.
“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb... My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret,” he wrote quoting Psalm 139:13,15.
Graham warns that “sin not only brings death and destruction, but it also horribly deceives.”
Just as the snake deceived Eve in the Garden, the enemy is within us trying to move us to forget about God’s infallible word.
“When we see all manner of evil across the face of our nation and world, we should recognize that the fundamental issue is a sinful heart,” Graham wrote.
We as a nation must heed these profound messages and find a path forward looking only to Jesus Christ.
