Many people think leaders need to have a hard, Teflon exterior and show little emotion.? Some still believe that successful leaders are those who keep their distance for the sake of professional boundaries. But what if being a people leader was more about the people + connection???
What if you led with LOVE, could you be more effective?
I do think love + leadership go together like peanut butter + chocolate (or jelly!).?
Here are three reasons why:
First, leading with love means putting people first. Good leaders recognize that their team members are human beings with feelings, hopes, and dreams. They take the time to get to know them on a personal level, to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and to help them grow. This approach not only creates a more positive work environment but also fosters a strong sense of engagement on the team and for the organization.?
Second, leading with love means showing compassion and empathy. Leaders who are able to put themselves in their team members' shoes can better understand their struggles and offer support when it's needed. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that there is a lot of pressure to keep things going as “normal.”? Helping your team feel like they are heard and appreciated fosters a culture of trust and openness. Which leads to higher levels of employee satisfaction and engagement.?
Third, leading with love means leading by example. Good leaders don't just tell their team members what to do, they show them how to do it. They model the behavior they want to see in their team, whether it's working hard, taking responsibility, or being respectful. This creates a sense of accountability and inspires team members to do their best.
So, if you're a leader who wants to take your team to the next level, consider leading with LOVE. It may seem counterintuitive at first, but the benefits speak for themselves. Plus, who doesn't want a boss who cares?
