Roof Maintenance Tips
Roof is one of the most important parts of a house. It protects your home from all kinds of weather, bugs, animals and falling debris while also adding to the overall look of your home. Below are some tips to keep your roof in good shape:
1.?????? Visually inspect your roof from the ground at least twice a year in spring and fall.? Look for problem areas like lifting or missing shingles, damaged drip edge, missing or exposed fasteners, broken or dropping gutters, and piles of granules.
2.?????? Clean your gutters at minimum once a year to avoid water from backing up and rot from occurring.
3.?????? Trim overhanging tree limbs that are near your roof to prevent branches, leaves and other debris from falling onto your roof.
4.?????? Prevent moss and algae from growing on your roof by keeping your attic properly ventilated and regularly removing any debris from your roof.? Also Sprinkle anit-moss products on the roof once or every other year depending on the climate you are in.
5.?????? Check the insolation. Proper insolation and ventilation in your attic can help keep your roof in good condition by reducing moisture and preventing ice dams from forming.
6.?????? Inspect your roof top for rust. If your roof is constructed with any metallic parts, then it is important to check regularly that there is not corrosion and rust on the metal. If you notice rust developing, use a wire-brush to remove the rust and then prime and paint the affected areas of the metal to keep them rust-free longer.
