Ronaq Set to Light Up New Waverley
We are delighted to announce premier Indian restaurant brand Ronaq has opened a spectacular new restaurant here at New Waverley.
Ronaq is expanding its chain of high quality Indian restaurants into a stunning glass-fronted corner site within our development. Ronaq offers a tapas-style daytime menu to take advantage of the growing lunchtime demand in the area as the New Waverley development takes shape. At night, the venue will be transformed into a bustling bar area serving Indian snacks and starters, accompanied by a more formal eating experience in the spectacular restaurant inspired by the British Raj.
The location is a completely one-off space with a lovely open setting - situated just yards from the Royal Mile, one of the most iconic streets in the world and Waverley Station one of the busiest transport hubs in the UK.

Architects for the site Allan Murray Architects commented - " The corner of Cranston Street and East Market Street is an example of important placemaking and is a key contributor to the overall New Waverley masterplan. A special place and a special building it contributes to the diversity and life of the street in a very unique way. By allowing views over the roof to the Calton Hill and the New Town it reinforces the wonderful townscape of the Old Town. It also adds a different architectural ‘gem’ to the streetscape and plays an important part in the activation and animation of the street. As a powerful form and architectural geometry and an open glassy structure it is both a window to the internal activities and life and also a frame to view the Waverley Valley. The 'Little building' has a 'Big impact' and the life of the City is made richer for it. "
Ronaq’s director, Mohammed Shoaib told us “We have designed the restaurant to take full advantage of the views across Edinburgh, combined with a varied menu serving the best in contemporary and traditional Asian cuisine. It’s an amazing space bringing together the best of Edinburgh, both old and new, and we are looking forward to literally lighting up the Old Town.”
Welcoming Ronaq to New Waverley, our development’s project director Clive Wilding said: “Within yards of the restaurant we have three new hotels which opened last year - plus The Arches, a thriving new retail and leisure quarter accommodating some of the most exciting independent operators to be found anywhere in the UK. New Waverley is now a genuine buzz around the city, with plenty more announcements to come in 2017.
