Rollercoaster Ride: PCOD
Did you also experience sudden weight gain, acne on your face, sudden anxiety rushes, irregular menstruation- you bleed three times per month or don't bleed at all, suddenly not liking what you used to love, a depressed phase?
PCOD symptoms include these.
The condition is often caused by hormonal imbalance and is known as Polycystic Ovarian Disease. This can be genetic too.
The year 2018 turned my life upside down when I was diagnosed with depression. Counseling sessions and medication have helped me manage my depression, but it still in a few years turned into an anxiety disorder. During the year 2021, after gaining weight suddenly, even with medications, I noticed an increase in my anxiety, menstrual irregularities, and mood swings that were exaggerated. This became an alarming condition for me. I had heard about PCOD before, but I wasn't sure if my symptoms were caused by it or just because I was too stressed.?
WHAT IS PCOD?
In PCOD, the ovaries start releasing immature eggs that lead to hormonal imbalances and swollen ovaries. PCOD?is VERY common in women. According to one survey, about one-third of all menstruating women around the globe have?PCOD. It causes irregular or prolonged menstrual periods, excessive body hair, acne, and hair loss. Polycystic ovaries may fail to develop follicles and which is causing difficulty in conceiving a pregnancy.

Upon consulting a gynecologist, I was certain it was PCOD.
Ufff, I wasn't prepared for another rollercoaster ride. Trust me, all this has taken its toll on me, from my medical expenses to my peace of mind, almost everything. Each day since then, I feel my body changing.?Numerous tests revealed a hormonal imbalance. In reading so many articles, it became clear that it was caused by stress. But nowadays, everybody is stressed out, isn't it?
Think about being stressed, which made you depressed, and you are now even more depressed because of something else and that too was caused by stress.?WOW!!!!
I know many with PCOD or PCOS but they don't talk about it. Even a survey says 35% of women have never spoken about their condition (PCOD/S) to anyone. I mean it's okay, not many are comfortable but one should speak up. Let the world knows what you're going through every day, not only physically but mentally too.
