Roles & Responsibilities of Project Engineer in EPC Industry

  • Delivering a clearly defined and complete proposal package including detailed project Scope of Work, estimate, schedule, CTRs and other supporting documentation as required for successful kickoff of the project.
  • Single-point responsibility for managing identified project interfaces and ensure that all applicable information is captured to enable the engineers to propose a complete a project design, with manageable brownfield integration risk.
  • Managing Technical Queries during engineering, and coordinate responses.
  • Managing cost, schedule and delivery during the engineering and procurement process.
  • Managing Technical Bid Evaluation process and production of the Technical Bid Evaluation Report.
  • Ensuring that the overall project is delivered to meet the asset operational needs.
  • Coordinating and participating in all project safety and design reviews as necessary.
  • Ensuring that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
  • Driving interface management, liaising with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
  • Providing client with an excellent service, by delivering the projects in a safe manner to the agreed schedule dates and within approved budgets
  • Working closely with assets and work pack teams to identify opportunities to release drawings with holds and split work packs etc
  • Delivery of individual, Project Performance with respect to Procurement, Schedule, Cost, Safety and Quality to meet asset operational needs
  • Arranging and participating in all project safety, design and constructability reviews
  • Providing assistance in timely resolution of site queries
  • Zero defect tolerance
  • Strict adherence to Project Procedures usage
  • Establishing Work Orders WBS Structure and alignment of proposals & CTR development with an emphasis on scope development
  • Project delivery to agreed schedule dates
  • Preparation of Weekly Project Dashboards
  • To drive interface management, liaising with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
  • Work Order Proposal preparation, including scope and deliverable definition.
  • Base line schedule preparation with planning engineers
  • Schedule Management
  • Daily Relationship Management and interface with client PE and other stakeholders
  • Accurate reporting against active work orders
  • Be proactive in safety behaviors and leadership
  • Work Order Proposal – development of delivery strategy, WBS and review of the completed CTR’s
  • Schedule approval – work with planning team to produce a base line schedule for client approval
  • Work Order Kick Off meetings – prepare for and manage the kick off meetings in accordance with project procedures.
  • Change Management – Ensure any potential changes and variations are managed in a timely manner with the clients approval and to the approved process
  • Risk Management – all associated risk are to be identified, assessed and registered with appropriate mitigation measures identified
