The role of simplicity in a complex world.
At this moment in time, ‘obsolete’ seems like a word that we’re all becoming extremely familiar with. But unlike Apple’s once-revolutionary iPod, which will be discontinued after 21 years, we believe that despite the overwhelming relentless tech evolution that continues to expand our creativity, there is still a need to step back and embrace simplicity in today’s complex design world.
A throwback to the film ident we created for Studiocanal. Our creative concept drew upon the fundamentals of cinema: sound & light. For the on and off screen identity we projected Studiocanal’s back catalogue onto a purpose-built rotating bespoke glass structure. Created in collaboration with Richard Holman and filmed by Cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos we used 1950’s anamorphic lenses and shot the results on glorious 35mm – preserving the magic and natural energy of film. Finished with a beautiful soundtrack by Oscar-winning Alexandre Desplat, Studiocanal’s identity was first shown to wide-eyed audiences at the world premiere of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
