The role of Redispersible Polymer Powder (RDP) in diatom mud

Diatom mud decorative wall material is a natural and environmentally friendly interior wall decoration material used to replace wallpaper and latex paint. It has rich texture and is made purely by workers. It can be smooth and delicate, or rough and natural. Diatom mud is soft and porous. Its unique "molecular sieve" structure determines that it has extremely strong adsorption and molecular exchange functions. It is a pollution-free, healthy, environmentally friendly and green resource.

?

RDP provides diatom mud decorative wall materials with ideal bonding strength, flexibility, stain resistance, waterproof and breathable properties. Now many wall decorations use diatom mud. Although diatom mud is expensive, it is very environmentally friendly, so high-strength and environmentally friendly RDP should be selected to increase the strength and anti-sagging properties of the wall. It is very necessary to add RDP to diatom mud, which is very effective in improving the bonding strength and cohesion of the material.

?

RDP film former is the primary factor affecting the physical properties and environmental performance of diatom mud coating. RDP is used as a film-forming material for diatom mud, and its coating is required to have high air permeability, bonding strength, water resistance, flexibility and low VOC content. When the polymer comes into contact with water, the water molecules form hydrogen bonds with -O-, -S-, -N-, etc. in the polymer, which enhances the hygroscopic capacity. The greater the polarity of the polymer, the stronger the water absorption capacity, while the hygroscopic capacity of non-polar polymers is almost zero. The type and number of polar groups on the molecular chain determine the hygroscopic capacity; the hygroscopic strength is also related to the polymer structure. The more regular the molecules, the less conducive to hygroscopicity; the density of the film will also affect the hygroscopic capacity of the coating. The better the continuity, the denser the film, the less conducive to water penetration, the worse the continuity, the stronger the capillary action, and the more conducive to water molecule penetration.

The role of Redispersible Polymer?Powder (RDP) in diatom mud:

1. RDP forms a film after dispersion and plays a reinforcing role as a second adhesive;

2. The protective colloid will not be destroyed by water after being absorbed by the mortar system to form a film, or "secondary dispersion";

3. The film-forming polymer is distributed in the entire system as a reinforcing material, thereby increasing the cohesion; RDP is a powder adhesive made by spray drying a special emulsion (polymer). This powder can be quickly redispersed to form an emulsion after contact with water, and has the same properties as the initial emulsion, that is, a film can be formed after the water evaporates. This film has high flexibility, high weather resistance and high adhesion to various substrates.

4. Diatom mud-specific RDP as an organic gelling material can improve the adhesion of diatom mud decorative wall materials, increase flexibility, reduce cracking, and increase cohesion.

?

The RDP specially made for diatom mud should be odorless, and improve the bonding strength between diatom mud and the base layer, improve its cohesion and enhance its temperature and humidity resistance, so that the diatom mud has a certain flexibility to prevent cracking in various shapes, while not affecting the adsorption and humidity regulating properties of the diatom mud.
