The Role of Plastics in Energy Saving

Plastics are at the heart of expanding development, contributing to sustainability, efficient performance, and conserving energy in our daily lives. Plastics is a lightweight material with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and offers excellent insulation properties.

The building and construction sector consumes 10 million tonnes of plastics each year in Europe (Plastics Europe). The applications include insulation, piping, window frames, and interior design. Buildings are responsible for approx. 40 % of the EU’s energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions (Plastics Europe). The plastics consume in building products such as insulation and piping include sustainable, high-performance, and longer-lasting plastic material.
