Role models are key at GF
Role models are key at GF. They set an example, embody our values and are an inspiration to all colleagues. That is why, when I think about them, Mujia Zhang naturally comes to mind. Mujia is a soft-spoken, visionary business leader who is running the GF Casting Solutions business in China and has been instrumental in shaping our organization as a global player and establishing our presence in the world's most promising market, which is also his home country. Mujia's history and years of experience are important skills, but what made his contribution exceptional was a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Mujia joined us in 2002, after a long stint in Europe, during which he also attended ETH, one of Switzerland's top schools. At the time, GFCS had no manufacturing sites in China and Mujia was tasked with building up an entity from scratch, in a challenging yet fast-growing market.
"I like taking risks and turning ideas into reality," Mujia, who is also the delegate of the CEO in China, says with a smile. Going back to China was one of those risks. "I just thought, why not, it's a chance to develop yourself. Also, China has a lot of easy going people and a very rich culture. Many things you dream of, you can also make happen," he says. The business grew steadily over the years and today 乔治费歇尔 has facilities and sites across the country. But in 2020, COVID-19 hit. "It was hard, and without our teams who came together despite the adversities, we wouldn't have made it," Mujia says. GF employees went far and beyond to make sure customers wouldn't be let down. "They are my family," Mujia says.

"I feel responsible for their growth and achievements, and when things don't go as planned, it is tough." I ask him where he thinks GF's Chinese operations still have potential to improve. "I still see areas where we can become more efficient, where we should get faster and more agile," he tells me. "We are still facing challenges in the world, geopolitical problems and economic disruptions, so we must get ready. Ensuring we can sustain our achievements in the long term, that is a goal that I always have in mind."
?In this series, GF CEO Andreas Müller exchanges insights about the GF business and culture with employees he meets around the world, sharing thoughts, ideas and experiences.
Mechanical Designer Engineer
1 年Hello, Just FYI, GF's Irvine office HR seems to operate quite unprofessionally. I was contacted by Kaitlyn Nguyen (HR Irvine) for an Engineering team interview. Despite assurances of feedback within a week after the completed interview with the Engineering team, I received none even after two weeks. My attempts to contact Kaitlyn via email went unanswered. When I called and left a message, upon returning my call, she seemed unaware of our interactions, couldn't recognize my name, and couldn't provide any clarity on the delay. She assured me that she has no idea when the feedback would be available, not in two weeks, not in one month—meaning, who knows, right? Such a lack of basic business ethics is highly unprofessional. Due to these experiences, I've requested my resume be withdrawn. Please respect my decision and avoid future contact. I am not sure if Kaitlyn Nguyen represents the company's business model. Hope not.
