Role Modeling of a L&D Leader in an Organisation
Role modeling of L&D leaders in an organisation simply means putting the best foot forward everyday and here are some thoughts on how we can do that:
- Stay Curious - Curiosity should be at the heart of any L&D leader and it always encourages us to listen to others, learn from other managers and implement emerging L&D practices.
- Be a Lifelong Learner - Role modeling is all about leading by example and as custodians of organisational continuous learning, L&D leaders must demonstrate at attitude of being lifelong learners. Sharpen your saw from time to time.
- Empower People & Build Ownership - Consciously involving the learners, leaders and stakeholders in the design & delivery process will ensure that we are building a culture where individuals are drivers of their learning journey and L&D leaders are expert navigators.
- Deliver Value - This is one of the most important differentiators which ensures the L&D leaders act as value creators by being commercially driven. You are a role model if the business goals are delivered.
- Build Credibility - To stay engaged with the learners and stakeholders, you need to be visible everyday not just physically but, importantly in your communication which will build credibility of the L&D function.
- Have an Open Door - You maybe one of the busiest but, be the most approachable leader in the organisation by ensuring that you always have time for meeting others and there is absolutely no excuse to it. People matters are L&D priorities all the time.
