I went into a private bank and while I was through with my work, I heard a man saying out loud, " I want the productivity report, transaction list and the complaints register". It was like a sudden shriek amidst the opening hour silence in the bank when there are not many customers around. After a while he was again shouting at someone in the name of productivity. I looked around at the grim faces of employees and could sense the effect his banter had on them. Productivity, I believe is not just the output of a person, it has got more to do with the inherent potential of the employees. When you work in your own space without someone hovering over you all the time, you tend to own your job better and be more productive. Productivity not only depends on your knowledge and experience but also on your attitude, focus and commitment. Bosses or key persons do play a major role in increasing productivity by being role model themselves, by encouraging employees through their words and support and guiding and helping them to achieve their full potential in key areas of business. Unless each employee is made to feel important what we achieve are business targets and not holistic growth. Aim to bring out the best in people.....all targets will just be business figures that would be so much achievable............

8 年Productivity is the by product of Company's ethos, eco system and discretionary collective efforts. However, not being practiced in many organisations, leads only to frustration and decay.... I agree with you Sindhu. We need to revisit the people practices ....
