Managers are great pillars in every organization who bonds employees together and keeps them motivated to give their best performance. A good manager gives the credit of success to the team and stands in the front to face any failure, risk or challenges. Having said this its very obvious that for every employee, his/her manager is the first role model and first point of contact. I remember how I refused to move to a different team when offered in my first organization, just because of my manager who was too good and supportive. Thus, a role of Manager in POSH is very important and definitely needs special call out. Here are certain Do’s and Don’t when it comes to role of managers in POSH.
?
Do’s :-
1.?Ensure that all your team members have been sensitized with POSH awareness program.
2.?Highlight the main points from POSH awareness program during team huddle periodically.
3.?Be approachable, as in If any employee has any concern, they must feel comfortable discussing the same with you.
4.?Be a whistle blower. If you find any sexual harassment issue within team, directly report to ICC.
5.?Encourage your employee, if affected by sexual harassment, to reach ICC team directly.
6.?Have a female HR/Senior female employee/any other employee along with you while counselling or scolding any female employee separately in your cabin.
7.?Support your employee if they are undergoing enquiry process.

Don’ts:-
1.?Don’t handle POSH cases on your own. ICC is the only authority to handle this in right manner.
2.?Don’t take advantage of a female employee in your team. They look upto you as their mentor and cannot withstand such behaviours from you especially.
3.?Don’t encourage personal conversation even if it’s initiated by a female employee.
4.?Don’t call female employee after office hours.
5.?Don’t mandate switching on the video post office hours.
6.?Don’t ignore any uncomfortable situation complained by your team member. Direct them to ICC immediately.
7.?Don’t conversate with female employees separately within or outside the workplace.

1 年Managers play a very important role in creating the culture of the organisation. They influence a lot of employees within their teams. Hence it is vital that they be aware of the ASH policy of the organisation and discuss it regularly in team meetings. This will create a healthy and positive work environment.
