The Role of Industry events in advancing IoT: 4 Key Insights
Networking, inspiration, discovering new trends, and ecosystem growth...
The benefits of attending industry events are numerous. Far more than places to showcase products or services, they are vibrant spaces where knowledge is exchanged, relationships are built, and new ideas are born.
Of course, the IoT event agenda is no exception. Conferences, expositions, alliance assemblies, and seminars— the event radar is always active when it comes to fostering synergies aimed at advancing our field of work.
The first weeks of November were a testament to this collaborative approach. Our LORIOT team participated in six IoT events across multiple continents. From the Middle East to Barcelona, we engaged with industry leaders and innovators from diverse IoT verticals, like energy, smart city, sustainability, and mobility.
Here are 4 key takeaways from this event season:
1. Digitization is key to drive efficiency in complex environments
Take the ADIPEC Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi, for example. Focused on the growing energy market- with an expectancy to grow at 13.0% CAGR from 2024 to 2030, according to Grand View Research, Inc- it provided a crucial platform to discuss the transformative role of IoT in the oil and gas sector and present the latest innovations in sensors. WIKA Group was one of the exhibitors alongside LORIOT, Aloxy, and ASYSTOM. Together, we demonstrated how robust IoT solutions can address complexity, foster resilience, and enable scalability, expanding our reach in a region poised for significant IoT adoption.
Meanwhile, in Tulln, Austria, our LORIOT Verso solutions were showcased in Naturgefahrentagung (Natural Hazards Conference), demostrating the same transformative approach of IoT but this time focusing on addressing the challenges of global warming.
With the recent announcement of Copernicus ECMWF that 2024 will virtually be the warmest year on record and the first year of more than 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels, climate change has marked a critical turning point for humanity, demanding innovative technological solutions and immediate, coordinated action.
Naturgefahrentagung was a great stage to showcase LORIOT Verso IoT environmental monitoring solutions as an ally to empower communities and safeguard ecosystems by turning environmental data into actionable insights.
2. There is no modernization without sustainability
The advancement of technology is increasingly focusing on sustainable practices aimed at improving quality of life, protecting the environment, fostering economic growth, and driving green global modernization. Achieving these goals requires collective efforts—bringing together industry leaders, stakeholders, policymakers, opinion leaders, and local authorities to connect, collaborate, and innovate.
We were part of these crucial interactions at ECOMONDO - ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP, alongside our partners Diehl Metering and mioty alliance, in Remini, Italy. Here, we put a main focus on the advantages that mioty technology offers for water metering projects and efficient resource management. Explore our key takeaways here.
3. Customer needs are the main driver of innovation
According to Harvard, "If you understand the customer problem you dramatically improve your odds of successful innovation."
At LORIOT, we understand that groundbreaking innovations emerge not from technological capabilities alone, but from a deep, empathetic understanding of the challenges our customers face.
Our participation at the mioty alliance General Assembly in Munich was a testament to this approach. During the event, we explored how mioty technology enriches the variety of technological options for the users, adding flexibility and scalability to its deployments and directly addressing the unique characteristics of each project.
Moreover, engaging with alliance members and partners enables our ecosystem to refine IoT solutions and brainstorm synergies that can simplify adoption for our customers.
Achieving deep undertanding of customer needs aslo means continuous learning. Both the SPS – Smart Production Solutions event in Nuremberg and the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona offered us unique opportunities to deepen our understanding of market demands, explore new technologies, and connect with key players. From industrial automation to smart city innovation, these events inspired us to sharpen our ability to deliver IoT solutions that meet evolving needs.
4. Industry events are where the pulse of IoT is most alive
They remind us that innovation isn’t achieved in isolation—it’s built on partnerships, shared knowledge, and a collective drive to address global challenges.
As we engage in these platforms, both as attendees and now also as hosts with our recently launched IoT Sparks event, we reinforce the importance of building and nurturing relationships with partners and stakeholders.
These connections are not only essential for advancing IoT solutions but also for fostering business expansion, opening new opportunities for providers, and developing enhanced solutions that truly meet the needs of end customers.
Through collaboration and shared expertise, we’re not just transforming industries—we’re laying the groundwork for a more connected, sustainable, and impactful future.
See you at the next event!
