Role of a CIO is transforming in 2018

As Digital Transformation and innovation take center stage, the role of the CIO will shift away from controlling costs to making extensive use of new technologies. Here are the ways that CIO’s will seek to drive revenue goals and exploit data in 2018.

1. Business will continue to look for growth from digital business models, anticipating the disruption from new markets, customers, suppliers etc will be the key. 
2.  Growth will be the top priority in 2018, All CIO’s will be looking to aim Product and service transformation through innovation and sharpen customer focus.
3.  Business Intelligence is going to be the area most important to help CIO’s differentiate from their competitors in 2018. While Cloud services and digital marketing remain a big factor.
4.  Digital business has created a greater ability for change and a more open attitude within IT organizations. 2018 will see a greater move to bi-modal approaches to IT and enhanced anticipation for the latest technologies.
5.  The new wave of technology, such as AI & Robotics, Digital Security, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Cognitive Systems and IoT can be tricky technologies to implement. The most common complaint with these technologies, is finding the fresh skills required to capitalize on them.
