Consider a decentralized social media platform like Mastodon or a blockchain-based project like Steemit. These platforms empower users by giving them control over their data, reduce reliance on central authorities, and mitigate censorship risks.

For web engineers, incorporating blockchain can significantly enhance the security of applications. By integrating solutions like Ethereum or Hyperledger, developers can create smart contracts that automate and secure transactions, ensuring trust without intermediaries.

Web engineers must adapt to these models by understanding token standards like ERC-20 for fungible tokens and ERC-721 or ERC-1155 for NFTs. These standards enable developers to build applications that support token creation, trading, and integration with broader blockchain ecosystems.
