Rohingya crisis could increase Global security risk ---Major General (Retd.) Abdur Rashid, Military expert

Military analyst Major General (Retd.) Abdul Rashid thinks that the Rohingya problem is not only a problem in Bangladesh, but also a problem of the world. If the Rohingya problem is not resolved quickly, the threat of security could increase not only in South Asia but also around the world. Speaking about the Rohingya torture, he made such comments.

In an interview over the phone, General (Retd.) Abdur Rashid said that Rohingya violence is a clear crime. He said, ‘the problem of race is more important than religion in this context. Myanmar has 135 ethnic groups but the Rohingyas are not recognized as a tribe. Rakhine is a country of Rohingyas, but the Myanmar government has not recognized the Rohingyas. As a result, the Rohingyas have been deprived of civil rights that citizens enjoy from the state.

General (Retd.) Abdul Rashid said the Myanmar Army has a lot of power in the state. The Myanmar government and its Army claimed that Rohingyas are not their citizen, they intrude from Bangladesh. Historically, the Rohingyas lived in Arakan. He said the Rohingyas had a position in the independent Arakan.

Myanmar government has used military force to expel Rohingyas on ethnic hatred, which is a criminal act against human rights violations and human rights. He said those who organized the crime must face trial because it is a question of civilization. They should be judged in international law. Otherwise, others may be encouraged to organize such a crime.

Army officer Abdur Rashid said Rohingyas who have come to Bangladesh to save their lives must be given a status along with civil rights and let them return to Rakhine. He said, ‘Bangladesh has sheltered the Rohingyas for humanitarian reasons but now the world needs to be active and show humanity.’ All states, regardless of religion, must work together and force the Myanmar government to restore the rights of the Rohingyas.

In response to a question about the problems that could arise if the Myanmar government does not take back the Rohingyas, Major General (Retd.) Abdur Rashid said that many people think that it is a problem in Bangladesh because the Rohingyas have taken refuge in Bangladesh. This is wrong, the refugee problem is the world's problem, so the world must work together to solve the problem. General (Retd.) Abdur Rashid said, if we consider South Asia as a land, Bangladesh is in one corner of this land. And in one corner of Bangladesh, the Rohingya crisis if prevailing. There is a risk that the Rohingyas may travel one place to another. There are fears that they could migrate to any country in South Asia.

Bangladesh is keeping the world safe by keeping the Rohingyas in control in a particular region. As the days go by, the risk of the Rohingyas migrating is increasing. India, Nepal and China are not out of that risk, he said. If these countries don't work together, the Rohingyas will be scattered around. And security risks will increase.

In response to a question about how severe could be the reaction of the Rohingyas anger on the torture, arson, genocide and gang rape, Military analyst General (Retd.) Abdur Rashid said the biggest risk is security. He said, ‘Angry may develop into a grudge.’ If the problem is not resolved quickly, there will be a lot of anger among the Rohingyas. And any evil power can use this anger.

In this context, he added, there are incidents of ethnic violence in Myanmar are occurring. If any evil power raises their anger, war or civil war may spread. It will destroy peace and stability. This will increase security risks, hike the cost of security. Bloodshed may increase.

In this context, General Abdur Rashid also said that millions of people live in a small space. It's a risk to the environment. They don't have civil rights, they don't have education the children don't have the education. The generation that will be created from this environment or what generation will be transformed is beyond our imagination.

Major General (Retd.) Abdul Rashid said that immediate repatriation of Rohingyas is important in the interest of the world, not only for Bangladesh. He said citizenship should help the Rohingyas to return to their homeland with dignity.
