Rocky & Stephen Covey !

We are cool, we are wise , we understand , process , comprehend and synthesise information better. Fantastic! but when it comes to practical intelligence .. the application of knowledge ? Hoomans... are we there yet ! As a management facilitator , Ive been training people on the circle of influence and the circle of concern for ages and session after session its a ga ga .. go go.. wow! cool! why haven't we thought of this before kind of reactions.... and ..out of the training hall.. fizzes out faster than a can of soda.. but wait ! the story doesn't end there. What are pooches for then ? Pooches and Stephen Covey?! Oh yeah !.. my rocky exactly seems to understand Covey better than me.. of course ! He knows precisely what he can control and what he cannot!.. fully aware of his circle of influence and circle of concern.Let me start with his circle of influence . It's 6 pm.. morning walk.. dad's asleep, he knows for sure how to wake him up. One pounce on the bed , push the sheets, a few nibbles on dad' face with a cold wet nose , a lil cheeky snap and the job is done! Dad has no choice but to sleepily gather himself up and reach for the leash .. not to mention the non stop howl till the lift lands on floor G. He's got it worked out perfectly! Scene 2 ..with mom.. for breakfast .. Oh oh . . Oh no... its the dumb old dog kibbles again.? Time to hide under the bed till she fetches something good! There's the flavour of fish wafting from the microwave, it's time to sneak out from under the bed , rush into the kitchen and guard the microwave till its done, worry mom and let out high octave howls till the meal is put on the platter and ready to eat! Bored of sitting while folks watch TV?It's time to topple something or pull out coconuts from the pantry till folks realise his need to play and grab the tug of war! Mom or dad stuck on a virtual meeting for long ignoring him? The strategy is simple .. barge straight into the zoom call , nibble mom's cheeks , maybe ruffle up the laptop a bit till office folks realise it can't be managed and close the meeting soon! Who else would understand the circle of influence better? ! Yeah .. of course he understands the circle of concerns too. Mature and wise that he is. It's a rainy day ? weather out of bounds ? no walks,?happens man.. life sucks at times. The power's gone? - no AC.?. weather is too warm for comfort , happens - time to scout the balcony , gulp down loads of water and hang in there till the AC is back. Life's uncertainties,..things beyond him .. he sure understands.. doesn't he ? Now tell me folks ..what better way to go the Covey way? Isn't that wisdom at its practical best? Our pooches sure seem to teach us a lot more than what meets the eye. Agree ?
