Rocking it since 82'

People often say two things about entrepreneurship:
1. It's an emotional roller coaster.
2. An entrepreneur jumps off a cliff and builds a plane while falling.
These past weeks have made me realize just how true these statements are.
I just returned from a week in Vegas, attending one of the most important industry shows. My relationship with Vegas is a mix of love and hate. Both times I’ve been there, I've experienced moments of great joy and incredible pain, so it's always a whirlwind of emotions.
Whether by coincidence or fate, I’ve just returned from an intense week filled with joy, nostalgia, love, disappointment, excitement, sadness, and pain.
Now, as I write this, I’m just hours away from my departure to Berlin. The prestigious Westerwelle Foundation’s accelerator program selected me as a Top Founder. They’re taking all their top founders to Berlin for a week of networking activities, city tours, conferences, and even Pilates.
I’m eager to see what this experience will bring, but I must admit, I’m also exhausted.
This is something many entrepreneurs don’t often talk about. We’re usually seen at shows, conferences, and travels, surrounded by people, seemingly having the time of our lives while building our companies.
The truth is, most of us are just tired, waiting for that one “yes” that will change the future of our companies and allow us to slow down a bit and enjoy what we’ve achieved so far.

Here I am, excited yet tired, trying to organize my thoughts, understand the next steps, and figure out how to get there.
Entrepreneurship can be lonely, which is one reason I decided to start this newsletter. Many of us, regardless of our field, share the same struggles, fears, and doubts, but no one talks about them. So here I am, talking about it, so at least one of you can relate and know you’re not alone in this journey.
Just like parenting, you’ll never fully understand entrepreneurship until you experience it yourself. Our companies are our children, and we feel every little emotion along their growth just as we would with our kids’ emotions.
A few days ago, I received an email from someone I deeply admire:
“Marjorie, I admire you as a fellow entrepreneur—tireless, passionate, and hardworking. You rock.”
The sender has no idea how much their words impacted me. It made me feel seen and supported. I will forever be grateful for this reminder that I am hardworking, passionate, and tireless. No matter how tired I am, I will not give up until my vision is realized.
I encourage you to do the same. Don’t give up. Shut out the external noise, take care of yourself, learn to pause instead of quitting, and show the world that YOU ROCK.
Love,
M

5 个月It’s inspiring to see your consistent posts Marjorie. You never give up and your sharing of your difficulties and showing your vulnerable side is (for me) the best part of a true entrepreneur
I’m deeply appreciative… there is room for earnestness and positivity in business and entrepreneurship, and you made my day with yours.

5 个月A few years ago I was an entrepreneur in the interior design industry. I sold my company and became a wood construction and furniture teacher. A few weeks ago I decided to start again as an entrepreneur in the toy industry. I'm going to start my own toy company, starting with one concept. Hopefully this time next year my first concept will be on the market. So I understand very well the emotional rollercoaster. Marjorie, I wish you the best of luck.

5 个月Social media constantly presents us with a narrative of success and perfection that is quite far from reality. We need more "Marjories" sharing their experiences from the heart, showing the vulnerabilities and strengths that shape personal experience. There is so much to learn. Thank you!
