Rocket Science: An Emerging Quality and Testing Opportunity

A few months back, I had attended a startup enclave in Bengaluru in which I met a variety of entrepreneurs, some established, and some still springing up. Two classes of companies drew my interest - one, the startups that would challenge the massive, costly, enterprise systems like CRM with their cost-effective products, and two, the space companies.
Space companies are known for their stringent performance requirements in accuracy and precision. When I spoke to a CEO, he shared some insights about the quality requirements that go with their work. They had been doing it for some years now, but there are still opportunities for improvement, scope for further testing, and quality initiatives.
In fact, there are many opportunities around the world in testing and quality space for satellites and space programs. You might have heard about the launch of methane-tracking satellite by SpaceX.
These kind of programs not only provide job opportunities, but also contribute to the betterment in the world that is marred by climate change, which requires climate action. There is also a requirement to clean up space junk and this involves accuracy and precision that testing and quality initiatives can contribute to. There are also multiple government initiatives on exploring other planets and the Earth's moon. Watch out for those opportunities.
Happy Testing!
