A Rock Solid Foundation
A Foundation of Integrity and Core Values by DALL-E

A Rock Solid Foundation

Earlier this week, I helped celebrate the 11th anniversary of a good friend's business. Having known him since just when he started it, it's been incredible to watch it grow.

Another good friend stood on a chair to give the customary toast. Referring to The Bible, he mentioned how important it was for a business (and our relationships) to be built on rock foundations rather than sand.

I've been thinking about it ever since.

It hasn't always been easy; think about what the last decade or so could mean for a small business owner. But over 11 years, the business has grown sustainably and profitably without compromising values, personality, or integrity. His success is a direct reflection of who my friend is and what he believes in.

It's exemplary. Someone should write a case study on it.

Most of you reading this aren't business owners, but you're salespeople who could take a lot away from this example nonetheless.

Sustained sales success comes when you don't compromise your values, personality, or integrity. It comes when you look to make sales for life instead of a sale for the end of the period.

That skeevy feeling you're afraid of when you think of the word "salesy?" That's a compromise in integrity. That only comes when you sell the wrong way.

Remember the Sales Success Cycle. You believe you can make a sale, you have success, and when you succeed with integrity, your belief in yourself increases. That belief leads to more success, and so on.

If you're not aligned with what you sell, who you sell it to, how you sell it, and why, you're missing a crucial component of success, and you're probably frustrated.

That integrity is your rock-solid foundation. You can feel it when it's there, and you miss it when it's gone. Ignore it at your own peril because it's exactly what it means to Sell Like You.

Until next week,

JB

Sales success is built on the trust you earn and maintain, not just the transactions you close. I've always found that the connections you really put your heart into always make the biggest difference, not just the one-off wins. Hard to sustain success without them!

Integrity in sales is crucial because it serves as the foundation for sustained success. It involves not compromising your values, personality, or integrity, aiming for long-term relationships rather than short-term gains. This approach builds trust and credibility, essential for lasting business relationships.
