Roche Ghana commits to bringing even more impact to patients from its new home
This month, Roche Ghana announced that it is reaffirming its strong commitment to the Ghanaian people, and that it will bring more value and innovation to the local healthcare system from its new home in Golf Street, Accra.
Since 1996, Roche has been committed to improving access to its innovative solutions onto the Ghanaian market. The company has partnered with the Ministry of Health to provide targeted (breast) cancer therapy for over 800 Ghanaian women under the National Health Insurance Scheme, and established three new cancer treatment centers at Cape Coast, Tamale and Ho teaching hospitals. We have also upscaled two other treatment centers at Korle Bu and Komfo Anokye teaching hospitals, trained four oncologists, 11 oncology pharmacists and 46 oncology nurses. Roche Products Ghana Limited has grown from being a representative office in 1996 to a legal entity in 2013 to a? full affiliate in 2020. The company’s growth required an agile workspace that accommodates its growing numbers and new functions, to better serve Ghana.
At the opening, distinguished guests including Her Excellency Simone Giger, the Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Maturin Tchoumi, Roche Africa Area Head. The guests were welcomed to the new office by Kgothatso Motumi- General Manager, staff and partners of Roche Ghana. Speaking at the event, Kgothatso Motumi- General Manager, Roche Ghana, said, “This new office is testament to our strong commitment to Ghana, Our health system is under more pressure than ever as we recover from the COVID 19 pandemic and global economic pressures. However, we are firmly convinced that by working in partnership, we can ensure Ghana has the access to innovative diagnostics and medicines that it needs so we can live longer, healthier lives and spend more time with the people we love.”
Also speaking at the event was Her Excellency Simon Giger, Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, who said, “I am proud of the continued and deeming partnership between Roche and Ghana as we passionately believe that health innovations led by Swiss organisations only matter if they are accessible to everyone.”
Motumi also shared Roche’s commitment to its people. “It is the people and their work that make Roche what it is and we want to ensure that we are creating an environment where we are attracting and retaining the top talent to serve Ghana patients. Our new office, from its location, to the design of the meeting rooms and workstations to the provision of relaxation areas, has been designed with employees in mind and to support creativity, agility and motivation. “
The new Roche office is located at Gulf Street, Accra.
