Are robots for the best or the worst?

About a decade ago humans have started to think about humanoid. They have recently created advanced robots that can replicate human reactions not only from a physical point of view but also from an emotional level. With today's evolution of artificial intelligence, some things we used to see in movies are becoming a reality. For instance, nowadays a warehouse, like Amazon's, has robots instead of humans moving some packages.
So some people see robots as a threat and are wondering if one day the world will be governed by robots due to the fact that robots, in the long run, will be able to generate and auto -develop their own intelligence and become smarter every day.
Robots are a human creation. "At the bottom, robotics is about us. It is the discipline of emulating our lives, of wondering how we work" said Rod Grupen. God also created us. But God decided to give us the opportunity to do whatever we decide even if he would not agree with some of our choices. In fact, I am pretty sure some situations that we experience in today's world would have never been a reality if humans were controlled by God. Even though a robot is created by humans. Even though they are now equipped with artificial intelligence (which means they will be able to learn from daily data/information they receive from the outside world) I believe robots will always have some sort of point of failure because humans are not perfect thus our creation.
A robot (pieces of hardware put together ) is driven by a program ( sequence of instructions written by a programmer), they should not be able to have feelings. Well, will this remain true? Barry Long said "When the robot mind is mastered, undisciplined thinking ceases and is replaced by awareness. Awareness can know love". If they can learn, maybe they will become conscious and discover things like love or even jealousy. In this case, they could wish to be in the human position and transform us into a slave. This is just a theory. Leave a comment to let me know what you think.
There will be a war between robots and humans. We have seems countless movies based on this. If we can think of it, this should means there is a probability of this to happen... One thing is sure: technology will get better day after day. The world is surely being absolutely dependent on technology. Entreprise will keep developing solutions and software that will be part of our day to day life. So more robots with more complicated artificial intelligence will come. They will slowly take place in our house as well in our office perhaps bringing us a cup of coffee as per our request. But, we cannot tell if they will remain under human control... "Will robots inherit the earth? Yes, but they will be our children" Marvin Minsky said. This is a huge statement that can lead to great debate.
"Robot will play an important role in providing physical assistance and even companionship for the elderly," said Bill Gates. At the end of the day, a lot of things will be automated and people will go jobless because of that. What kind of life can we expect in a city cohabited by humans and robots?? We can't tell. As a human, we love to go beyond the limit and reach our next level. Several types of robots are being developed on a daily basis in research centers around the world but 100 years from now will it be for the best of the worst of humanity?

5 年Like Stephen Hawking says if climate change doesn’t get us AI will. Again according to Hawking, “Whereas the short-term impact of AI depends on who controls it, the long-term impact depends on whether it can be controlled at all”. If it can’t be controlled at all and have its own conscience. Good or Bad robot will far more better than us and if we get in their way that will be too bad for us. Like evolution have shown us several times over the last millions of years. The superior species always prevail. I’m against expanding AI to that extent however so we have a choice!?

5 年This is an insightful piece. I assume your take on robots is positive - you're mostly for them. If so, you could clearly state that right off the bat. It is important to take a stand before developing your argument. That's how you can make a point more effectively.?
