ROBOTICS TRENDS IN 2024
Welcome to this week's edition of IT News and Trends! In our last article, we talked about Cybersecurity in 2024: critical trends and challenges. Today we are going to talk about Robotics Trends in 2024.
The past year 2023 brought some big changes to the robotics industry and consolidated technologies that have undoubtedly expanded the capabilities of autonomous mobile robots.
Right now, what are robots for? ?? The rise of generative Artificial Intelligence has blazed a trail that redefines the way AMRs support people, demonstrating that the use of robots goes far beyond the transportation of cargo.
This year that is beginning will give rise to new use cases, new applications and new industries that are betting on intelligent process automation.
ROBOTICS TRENDS IN 2024
The outlook for the robotics sector in 2024 is marked by a number of trends that will make autonomous mobile robots more accessible to a wider range of industries. Technological innovation, smarter robots and new scenarios. These are the trends that Robotnik foresees in the year ahead:
Artificial Intelligence ??
AI has been a central theme in 2023 and promises to be so this 2024 as well.
One of the axes of mobile robotics and automation (in addition to navigation and the processing of large amounts of data), is the development of software that makes it possible to offer solutions that are more adapted to the needs of each industry. In this sense, Artificial Intelligence provides greater human-robot connectivity, more autonomy and complexity in the tasks they perform, and more capacity for collaboration.

Collaborative robots ??
Distribution centers, factories, warehouses, logistics centers... Most industries, regardless of their nature, have workspaces in which both robots and people are involved. For this reason, collaborative robotics is more in demand than ever, as it guarantees safety in this type of scenario and facilitates the deployment of mobile robots without the need to modify the infrastructure.
Robotics in the logistics sector ???
The shortage of labor and the high competitiveness due to the globalization of the sector highlight the urgent need to streamline production processes in logistics environments. Robots and mobile manipulators perform tasks such as transporting goods, handling parts, controlling stock or feeding production lines autonomously, constantly and quickly, without interruption.
New roles for robots ??
The evolution of AI is precisely what makes it possible that by 2024 there will be autonomous mobile robots taking on new roles, beyond traditional automation. Robots will move out of warehouses to increase their presence in public spaces and more unstructured outdoor environments where they will foreseeably execute more intelligent tasks.
Robot fleets ???
The period in which companies incorporated only 1 or 2 AMRs into their work processes is coming to an end, leaving behind skepticism about the value they could really provide. Today, the focus in automation is on the deployment of large fleets of robots that will provide a real boost to productivity.
