The Robotic artist paints in the store window display: calculate the economic impact of an installation in your organization

Imagine walking down the street and noticing an unusual storefront window: a robot painting a picture with smooth, precise movements. The brush dips rhythmically into the paint, leaving vibrant marks on the canvas as a scene takes shape. You’d probably look around for a sign of the place and then enter the store.

To draw attention to its new collection, fashion house Louis Vuitton installed robots modeled after artist Yayoi Kusama in its displays. They simulated the process as if the artist were brushing paint onto glass, leaving multicolored circles.

Large companies love to use new technologies to promote themselves, attracting not only customers but also media attention and increasing their visibility. The fashion industry often sets trends, and promotional methods are one of them. A robot in the shop window can increase the public’s interest in a product. To test this, Robohood experimented.

We installed a Robotic artist with our unique painting software in the window display of our Miami office. Our robots' significant difference and advantage is that they paint with brushes instead of imitating this process.

Reactions to the robots varied: some were surprised, others were startled by the unexpected, but the effect remained the same — viewers stopped to inspect what was happening outside the window. We found that of all the passersby, 80% stopped in front of the window to watch the process. Of those, 60% started recording video, and 20% entered our studio to ask questions and learn about the technology.

Store window displays are the face of your brand. It would be best if you assembled a team of visual merchandisers and designers to create them expertly. Installations for holidays or the start of a season often attract people. They discuss and take pictures of these displays, generating organic buzz through queues and social media shares. A robot is a living installation that wins because of its novelty.

This unconventional approach to attracting customers is paying off. Visitors who get a positive impression from seeing the Robotic artist not only tend to spend more money but also share their experience on social media, creating additional publicity for the location. Stores that implemented painting robots noticed an increase in average checks and higher customer satisfaction.

You can calculate the economic impact of installing a robot in your store using the following formula*:

Number of people passing by the store per day x 70% (those who stopped to look at the robot) x 18% (those who entered the store) x 10% (those who made a purchase)x average check = additional revenue per day.

For example, if your daily traffic is 300 visitors and the average check is $30:

300 x 0.7 x 0.18 x 0.1 x $30 = $113

In a month, the additional revenue would be $3,400.

*The metrics were obtained during the robot's test placement in the showcase and may vary depending on the location, traffic, and business.

A robot in the window of a store, coffee shop, art space, or any other commercial establishment will delight and amaze visitors and create an emotional connection to your brand.

There is always a thirst for the new, the unexplored, and the unusual. Robohood provides an opportunity to offer products or services and create an atmosphere that leaves an indelible impression on each visitor. Ultimately, this is more than just an investment in interior design. It’s an investment in individuality, a step into the future where business becomes art.
