Robot adoption drives job growth

Robot adoption drives job growth

Recent studies conducted by Koch et al. (2021) and Acemoglu et al. (2023) solidify our understanding that the integration of robots within industries not only enhances productivity but also stimulates overall job growth. However, it is crucial to note that the benefits of increased productivity are not evenly distributed among companies. Early adopters of robotic technology tend to gain a competitive advantage by capturing market share from their counterparts who are slower to embrace automation.

Reflecting on a recent European Oil & Gas roadshow organized by our friends at Sprint Robotics , the most significant takeaway was the tangible value that mobile robots offer in the realm of predictive maintenance. Whether it be the remarkable robots developed by Boston Dynamics or the array of other impressive robotic systems showcased during the roadshow—ranging from flying drones to autonomous vehicles and underwater explorers—there is no denying their substantial contributions.

In light of this, facility owners must overcome any reluctance they may have and commence testing these cutting-edge solutions today. It is understandable that time will be required for safety teams, workers' councils, and regulatory bodies to align their perspectives with management. Nonetheless, those companies that take the initiative today will find themselves in the best position to leverage the extraordinary innovations that lie just beyond the horizon.

Robots are synergetic. We need them for the creation of next level jobs while evolving as humans. Robots are the next industrial revolution, freeing human from acting like machines, enabling new technologies. But it’s actually quite more than that. Robots will challenge us as humans. #robotculture #goodrobot #technologicalevolution
