Job satisfaction! Last Saturday, I organised a charity motorcycle trial with a difference (with a lot of help I must add!) to raise awareness and money for Prostate Cancer. It was a format that had never been done before, 26 laps of a mile-long stream – definitely a journey into the unknown! Would it be enjoyable? Would anyone want to try it? Would it work?
Early on Saturday, I was still unsure - but as the competitors became accustomed and got a ‘second wind’, the smiles and determination overtook the cramp and tiredness! At the end, both the riders and spectators all asked if it was an annual event! I am pleased to say it was a raging success, and to date has raised over ￡17,000!
It took loads of time to plan and organise - I didn’t charge a penny obviously - but it was one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. Providing something unique that people enjoyed, is a wonderful feeling, similar to, but on a much bigger scale, a very happy and satisfied customer. It’s not money that gives us that feeling, it’s a deep in-built desire to please people, and the job satisfaction is the reward, which you can’t buy, only earn!?
