A bit of background music, or were we just lucky?
I noticed recently the background music in a shop was all 70/80s music which was strange as most of the customers were too young to have watched Top of the Pops! So, I have been listening out, and bars, restaurants, shops etc all seem to use older music. Maybe it’s one sign of being old, or is it just that music from that period and the groups who made it, seem to get better with age?
With the likes of Lulu who is celebrating 60 years of fame this year, Rod Stewart, and Bruce Springsteen touring again this year, and all in their 70s at least, is there a work ethic, or a pure joy from working or performing, rather than the money, as none of them will spend what they have?
There is a regular discussion about people setting poor standards as role models, but rarely do we pick out the many whose attitude to work and life would be worth following, and certainly listening to!
