Climate change, habit change.
We are constantly told about climate change, and I’m certainly not going into the rationale behind the science, but with the politicians now pushing us towards electric cars, in order to not only reduce CO2 emissions, but also to improve air quality in built-up areas, my question is this - are we prepared to change our habits to change the climate?
There is lots of talk about the financial cost or savings, depending which side of the argument you believe. One aspect you can’t argue with is the effect on air quality and CO2 emission created by using your car. ?However, from my experience, the main motivation to drive an EV is financial, not to improve the environment.
Hence my question - don’t we care, or is money more important? Are we generally prepared to change our habits, and personally invest in improving the climate? Or do we believe individuals can’t change such a macro issue, or can’t we afford or justify the investment?
It will be interesting to see how motivation to go electric changes over the next few years. Will it be financial, forced by legislation or will we all want to do our little bit to save the planet for the next generations??
“Climate change is sometimes misunderstood as being about changes in the weather. In reality it is about changes in our very way of life.” Paul Polman
