Tyres, black and round, or a bit more?
Part of my job, living over 20 miles’ away from the dealership, is to collect and deliver customers’ cars for service. Recently I was driving a customer’s car to work, and it was pretty obvious to me, having driven lots of similar cars,?that the tyres were worn, not illegal, but I could tell the difference.
Tyres are not just black and round - compounds, tread patterns etc make a big difference, and especially if you live out of town, maybe in a hilly area, cross climate tyres are worth considering. They offer better grip in cold weather, not just when it’s snowing. The rubber is different, so gives better braking efficiency when you really need it.
You might not be Lewis Hamilton, but I urge you to pick your tyres with care.?And when yours are worn, you will notice a big difference with new ones, especially when it’s cold, not just freezing or wet - it could be the best money you have ever saved!
