Is it normal??
Before I start, let me say that I don’t watch Coronation St, Emmerdale or East Enders, but I can’t claim it’s never on a TV in our house!! So, even I can’t help but notice the number of murders, bombings, drugs and endless illegal activities they seem to have.
I can’t claim to live in a crime free area, but in my 61 years of living around Bradford and Leeds I must have been incredibly lucky, as I personally have missed all the stuff that happens every week on TV.?I can claim to remember Coro when it had characters, just like those in the local pub, but I do wonder if the level of crime in soaps today is normalising it? Surely growing up with this type of content coming at us from all angles can’t help but make us think it’s normal, when the reality is, it’s far from it!
Should mainstream TV be more socially responsible, especially early evening TV, rather than just being interested in sensational TV. Well written drama can find a way to be entertaining, as it used to be, rather than jumping from one act of violence to another.

2 年Yeah im with you on this one. Generally we are desensitised to things that oiggt to shock us - because we are used to seeing it, albeit on tv and in film.
