Rules are Rules….
As a society, whilst we probably don’t like them all, we have to have some rules, and even though many will try to find a way to stretch them, they have to be enforced.
Simple ones, like what time we start and finish work, for some might seem trivial, but if we don’t stick to them, those who obey the rules and turn up on time will soon become aggrieved by perpetual lateness.
We all know the rules of the game.?If they say you have to do this, that or the other, we have a choice - follow them or don’t play that game - but we don’t have the choice to make up our own set of rules. Understandably, people become irate, some because they don’t get away with it, but more importantly, the ones who play by the rules feel they have been treated unjustly.
So, if you make a rule, firstly make sure it’s enforceable, then make sure you enforce it, no matter who it is. One rule for all!?
“Every person has free choice. Free to obey or disobey the Natural Laws. Your choice determines the consequences. Nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices. “ Alfred Armand Montapert

3 年Morning Robin, we really must meet at some time however we have so many common aims we could talk for days. Rules are indeed rules and you always get the best out of people if your rules are fair and realistic. The media wind me up every day but Simon Jack on the BBC last night stated that he thought that the new normal was people going into the office for a maximum of 3 days per week, staff wouldn’t agree to anything more! I think sometimes that people don’t remember that in most cases they signed a contract of employment pre Covid that is enforceable today. The majority of employers have been incredibly flexible but now as hopefully restrictions continue to be removed we can get back to a firm but fair normal ?
